Check the Installation of the Plug-In

After installing Datakit CatiaV5 3D to Solidworks translator, you can check if the plug-in has been well integrated into SolidWorks Add-Ins. To do, you should select the Tools menu, then the Add-Ins command.

This command provides the list of add-ins, and CatiaV5 to SolidWorks should be added and activated in the list as shown in the following picture:

Import a CatiaV5 3D Model

To load a Catia V5 3D Model, you can use the SolidWorks command ‘Open File’, then choose the entry file with extension "DATAKIT Import CatiaV5 File" as shown in the following picture :

You can also use the converter with the Datakit menu ‘DATAKIT Exchange’ as shown in the following picture, that allows you to:

• Open the Option dialog box using the ‘OptionCatiaV5’ command. For more information about import options, you can refer to the chapter ‘Importer Options’

• Convert a CatiaV5 3D Model into SolidWorks using the ‘OpenFileCatiaV5’ command.

• Select a specific part or assembly from an assembly file (.CATProduct) using the ‘ShowTreeAssembly’ command.
  This entry point allows you to recover all the structure hierarchy of an assembly file. An example of displaying the tree of an assembly is illustrated in the following picture:

  
  
  
  

• Browse a directory and retrieve the list of CATPart and CATProduct files that should be processed, using ‘BrowseFolder’ command (specific licence not provided in demo package).
  This menu will export a file you can import into DATAKIT Solidworks Batch conversion utility (not provided in demo package, please contact us for further information).

How to get Help

You can get more help about the CatiaV5 3D to Solidworks translator using the ‘Datakit Help’ menu. through Solidworks Help menu (Help\DATAKIT Help) as shown in the following picture:

• Help: browse local help file (CHM)

• Online Help: browe online help

• Report a bug: send an email to support@datakit.com

You can get the version of the plug-in using the ‘About DATAKIT CatiaV5 importer’ command. A dialog box will be displayed as following:

Choose Language

To Choose a language for this importer, you may want to go to Import->CatiaV5->Choose language dialog box.
